Data downloads

Download the data behind the airline, regional airline, private-jet comparison, route, airport, aircraft and fleet pages. Each file has a version, column definitions and citation text you can copy.

These CSVs are built from the site's saved datasets. Blank cells mean unavailable or not applicable, never zero. Fractions are shares of a whole; percentages are labelled separately. Fuel allocations and route CO2 are estimates where the methodology says so.

These are the underlying carrier-code histories, including carriers without profile pages. Some profiles stitch codes or split a code across successive airline names. Fuel is estimated where flagged, not necessarily reported. Partner shares describe the allocation stored in the source data; they're rounded and need not sum to a whole. This flying also contributes to network totals in efficiency.csv, so don't add the two files together.

Private-jet fuel is average hourly burn from Conklin & de Decker/JSSI as listed by Private Jet Card Comparisons, with no data date supplied. Source retrieval dates aren't observation years. The version is the latest recorded source snapshot date, including the airline data. Excluded jets retain their fuel input and reason, with comparison emissions left blank. Airline rows use the stated BTS year and actual average passengers aboard; jet scenarios divide combustion CO2 by the stated passenger count. The CC BY licence covers our calculations and CSV presentation; the private-jet source figures remain attributed to their providers.

Data and method changelog

Generation dates come from the saved datasets. Method changes below come from the dated methodology notes and the recorded data commits. A commit can be later than the generation date stored in a file. Airport figures use the route dataset's generation date; airport names come from the entity metadata.

  1. Metadata. Airline, airport and aircraft entity metadata generated.
Record: entities.json generated; data commit c087ef4.

  2. Data. Route data generated with the stored comparison year and directional air times.

  3. Data. Fleet inventory data generated with aircraft-family age and seating summaries.
Record: fleet.json generated; data commits e9ca306 and 70b1f05.

  4. Method. Regional fuel estimates changed to use aircraft flight hours before the median fallback; the flagged Frontier fuel adjustment was added.
    Record: data commit e6e2432.

  5. Method. Route fuel rates gained a check that replaces outlying airline and aircraft-type filings with the type average.
    Record: data commit 70b1f05.

  6. Data. Airline efficiency data generation date recorded in the committed data.
    Record: efficiency.json generated.

  7. Data. Private-jet comparison source snapshot, dated by the latest recorded retrieval or airline data generation date. The private-jet provider gives no observation date.

Record: Methodology dated note; data commits 9fce077 and 7962527.

  10. Method. Network figures changed to include the fuel reported by regional partners in Schedule T-2.
Record: Methodology dated regional-fuel note; data commit c08048f.

  11. Data. The full airline history and regional allocation were added.

Sources and terms

The source filings are from the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics: Form 41 Schedules P-12(a) and T-2 for fuel, T-100 for traffic, and B-43 for fleet inventories. Column meanings follow the BTS TranStats glossary, the T-100 reporting guide and the B-43 inventory instructions. CO2 calculations use the US EPA's kerosene-type jet fuel combustion factor.

The BTS and EPA source figures are works of the US federal government. Private-jet fuel inputs come from the providers credited with that download. Our calculations and CSV presentation are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
